Northville is considered a higher-end real estate market in Western Wayne County, with a large middle class, and the highest property values among its neighbors. Residents throughout the state of Michigan look forward to the annual Victorian Festival in Northville, an annual celebration of the town's unique heritage. There is no automobile traffic during this time, as locals, artists, and shop owners transform the downtown area into a Victorian Village complete with era costumes, and free horse and carriage rides. Northville Historical Facts

Although settled in 1825, it took a while for the city of Northville to come into its own. It was originally one of two communities within Plymouth Township (Plymouth is its next door neighbor these days), until 1898 when it became its own village.

Northville has been home to many prominent businesses throughout the year. Globe Furniture Factory thrived in the community during the mid-19th century, and Henry Ford had his Valve Plant located in Northville during the 1920s and 1930s.

Many of Northville's early residents have street names throughout town! These include Rufus Thayer Jr. (Thayer Boulevard), Joseph Yerkes (Yerkes Street), Daniel & Samuel Cady (Cady Street), William Dunlap (Dunlap Street), as well as many other settlers.

Finally, Northville Downs is where Joe Louis trained for a while in 1939.
